![]() ![]() In MSYS, mintty can be installed with mingw-get install msys-mintty. The Cygwin installer creates a shortcut for mintty in the Windows start menu. It can be downloaded from here or it can be installed through Cygwin's setup.exe program, where it can be found in the Shells category. Mintty is a terminal emulator for Cygwin and Cygwin derivatives such as MSYS. However once you install mintty, you don't automatically get your shell. ![]() I did some reading and found that many people recommend mintty which is based off PuTTY v0.60, arguably a better terminal interface. I installed Cygwin with the default options, but did not like how the terminal window was based on the Windows CMD (command line). Using Mintty and a few other methods, you can make the experience much more luxurious. The following might be a red herring, but I suspect it is actually related to the problem: If I run cmd and cd c: cygwin64, I can run Cygwin.bat, however the.Ĭygwin’s great for getting some Linux command-line goodness in Windows, but using the Windows Shell to access it kills some of that magic.
